I have a respect for this idea and don't think that it should be abandoned in film but I didn't see much in else the movie's mission other than that. I'm not a seasoned movie critic but the movie seemed like a retelling of stories I've heard before, the ongoing battle between the pride of nature and the greed of humans. However, for me, the movie didn't hit as hard as some of the other Ghibli movies I've seen up until now. Like always, the animation was spectacular, the score was a pleasure to listen to, and the expressiveness of it all really made everything come together. I just finished watching Princess Mononoke for the first time. I don't know much else besides what I've seen on screen. That said, I have not delved deeper than simply watching Ghibli movies themselves. It's not at all unique for me to say that I like My Neighbor Totoro, Nausicaä of The Valley of the Wind, and Porco Rosso the most out of the films of theirs that I've seen. I absolutely adore Studio Ghibli's work and Miyazaki's imagination. A fan-run "guidepost" site for Studio Ghibli Posts containing spoilers without using the above method ( except in clearly labelled threads) should be reported.
